Last Saturday, April 7, SBCSC Bus Drivers “overwhelmingly accepted” the tentative contract that was negotiated between AFSCME #686 and the School Corporation.
It is expected that the Collective Bargaining Agreement will be approved at the next School Board meeting, scheduled for this Thursday, April 12th at 5:30 pm.
We know that many of you communicated with Superintendent Spells and members of the Board of Trustees to express your concern that wages for South Bend’s school bus drivers be competitive with those offered by near-by school corporations. We understand that the negotiated agreement will meet this objective.
We soon will send additional information about plans for a community response acknowledging the positive actions taken by the School Administration. In the meanwhile, mark your calendar for April 12th and find a green shirt to wear to the next School Board meeting!
