WEST-SIDE REVITALIZATION — WHAT ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOODS?
A Public Forum, sponsored by the
Community Forum for Economic Justice
Tuesday, January 19, 2016 — 7 pm — LaSalle Branch Library
(3232 W Ardmore Trail, South Bend)
This program is a continuation of the community conversation that began at last October’s monthly forum. At that meeting, we focused on actual and potential financial resources that could be used to maintain and improve our neighborhoods.
Next Tuesday, we will hear from a panel of grass-roots leaders, representing residents of the Near Northwest and Far Northwest, of LaSalle Park and Kennedy Park, and of areas throughout the West Side of South Bend. These areas were significantly impacted by the Vacant and Abandoned Properties Initiative and West Side Main Streets Plan. Panel members will identify specific needs of that must be addressed in order to improve the quality of life for residents of these communities and to revitalize South Bend’s West Side.
Panel members include Sam Centellas, Lynn Collier, Ray Thompson, Lori Whaley and Rose Wilson. Each will offer short statements to begin our discussion of future changes for the West Side. You are invited to participate in this important discussion.
